Project management company get’s £200k+ in R&D tax credits.

Our client is a project management and construction consultancy business based in Manchester, trading for 8 years and employing circa 30 people.

What was your understanding of R&D?
It is an incentive from the central government to encourage companies to invest in research and development to improve the design and construction of our projects within the construction sector.

Have you claimed it before?
No, this has been our first experience.

What sort of innovations has your business been undertaking?
Most of it has been around prefabrication in construction, in particular how to deliver a concrete frame for a tower in the most efficient way, using the least manpower and carbon generation. We have also been looking at MEP systems with a view to strive towards a low embodied carbon solution. Other innovations have been around the build of frame and MEP systems to deliver additional lettable space in our projects.

How long have you been working with Recoup?
18 months.

Why did you decide to engage with Recoup?
They were recommended to us. We were unaware of the ability to claim funds towards the R&D we were investing in prior to meeting the team.

How have Recoup supported you?
They took over the process. We met to supply the data and talked through the innovation as we saw it and Recoup did the rest.

What was the process they went through from initial meeting (discovery) through to successful completion?
They handled the entire process, it was effortless.

How would you describe the process?
Hassle free.

How long did the whole process take?
It varied based on the complexity of each project. Ranged from 2 months to 4 months from start to finish.

How much did you receive?
In total across the projects (companies) in excess £200k.

What was the best thing about your experience?
It was a nice surprise to find out our efforts in R&D qualified for recovery of some of our costs.

Would you use Recoup again?
Yes.
